Maestro de la línea, el trazo concienzudo sobre planchas de metal con el empeño de lograr una imagen artística, encontrando un excelente resultado. Grabador de excelencia, su obra crea nexos increíbles entre el realismo, el surrealismo e incluso la abstracción.
La obra de Agustín Rojas es un tutorial para quien desee acercarse al extraño y esquivo mundo del grabado. Sus piezas van cargadas de metáforas cubanas, de abrazos en el amplio sentido de la condición humana, y por supuesto, como buen egresado de la segunda graduación del Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), y seguidamente profesor de dicha especialidad, sus obras son conferencias magistrales a nivel visual y conceptual.
“Mi trabajo está inspirado en la naturaleza y la intimidad compartida entre los seres humanos que interactúan entre sí. El grabado es un medio experimental en el que puedo expresar artísticamente esta interacción. Creo grabados e intaglios basados en mis dibujos y pinturas iniciales. Existe una interesante correlación y evolución desde la fase preliminar de dibujo o pintura hasta la fase final de impresión. Estos pasos en desarrollo sirven para revelar similitudes y diversidades entre los distintos medios. Curiosamente, la relación entre los distintos métodos de representar una imagen refleja las estrechas interacciones que observo y represento entre personas diferentes pero comparables”...
